Take It Back to November 16, 2016

After spending every Sunday coming up with a cleaver article about the media, I have realized that through this process I have learned a lot about the different elements when it comes to media. These blogs have helped me understand how mine and others' lives are being effected by media today. The things that I have taken away from creating these blogs each week is how much media I consume and how you many need certain traits when it comes to understanding media in any form.

Over the past couple of weeks I have realized that I come in contact with a lot of media each day, sometimes I spend so much time with the media that it becomes very unhealthy. I use my phone or other types of technology mostly during the end of the day, since I have school. I believe I spend about 4 hours or more with media during the weekdays, but on the weekends I think that I may spend more time that usual with media. Since I spend many hours on my phone it cuts into how much time I have to do all my school work. All the time I tell myself that I need to change and make my school work my top priority. I haven't made a change to the way to decide to do my homework, which is probably the smartest thing to do.

When I am using the media there is always some type of advertisement that catches my eyes, whether it's on TV or social media. I realize that from learning so much on advertisement I tend to pay more attention to all the commercials on TV instead of changing the channel immediately. For example, the other day I say a Geico commercial and I was able to know the implicit and explicit message that the company was trying to give off. There are times when I see commercials and I tell myself that the commercial has nothing to do with the product that they are advertising.

I believe that it is very important that consumers are well educated, since your education on the media can help you make some good decisions. An educated consumer would not be persuaded as easily compared to a non-educated consumer because they will be able to tell when they need a product. Also these educated consumers wouldn't be fooled by certain appeals or techniques that are incorporated into an ad.

In the end, after writing all my blogs I feel that I have learned a lot about the media throughout this quarter. The things I learned from these blogs is the amount of media I consume and how my life will always be surrounded by media.
